PHX Software for Aeronautical Charting and IFR Procedure Design
Compatibility
AutoCAD
PHX V8 is compatible with the following 32-bit AutoCAD versions:
- AutoCAD 2000, 2000i, 2002
- AutoCAD 2004, 2005, 2006
- AutoCAD 2007, 2008, 2009
As for now, PHX V8 is not compatible with any 64-bit AutoCAD version.
Operating System
PHX V8 is compatible with the following operating systems:
- Windows 2000
- Windows XP
- Windows Vista
If a 64-bit operating system is used, PHX V8 itself has no known compatibility issues with such a system as long as a 32-bit AutoCAD version is installed.
However, The official ICAO CRM program cannot run under 64-bit operating systems (i.e. Vista).
Tips & Tricks for AutoCAD 2009
AutoCAD 2009 suffers from a line displacement and ghost line problem at a specific zoom level. Even though this problem is only visual and it has no effect on the actual accuracy of the drawing entities, it can be quite disturbing especially when using the Profile Manager. This is a known AutoCAD 2009 3D engine issue and it has not been observed for any other AutoCAD version. There are 2 ways to fix the problem:
- Turn off hardware acceleration completely (Options -> System -> Performance Settings -> Manual Tune -> Enable hardware acceleration checkbox)
- Turn off adaptive degradation (Options -> System -> Performance Settings -> Adaptive degradation checkbox)
Tips & Tricks for Vista
The new Microsoft Vista OS has known compatibility issues with older versions of AutoCAD which might result in PHX V8 not working properly or at all. The first AutoCAD officially supported by Vista is AutoCAD 2008 and AutoCAD 2007 with the Vista patch.
If by any chance there's a situation which requires installing of AutoCAD 2004, 2005, 2006 on Vista, it is possible by doing the following tweaks:
- Do not install AutoCAD into the Program Files directory, simply install it into the root directory (C:AutoCAD 2006).
- If there is a problem starting AutoCAD, either turn off User Account Control (UAC), which is not recommended, or always run the program as an administrator.
- If there is a problem connecting to AutoCAD from PHX, always run PHX as an administrator (this is due to Vista compatibility problems with AutoCAD and not PHX even though it might seem the other way arround).
- Do not try to start AutoCAD by PHX, as this will most likely cause PHX to mallfunction. Simply start AutoCAD and when AutoCAD is up and running, PHX will connect with no problems.
