Advanced instrument flight procedure design course was held on the 31 May until the 18 June  2010

Aeronautical Services And Procedures (ASAP) teamed with the Air Navigation Institute (ANI) of Switzerland to provide an Advanced instrument flight procedure design course.

ASAP is the leading instrument procedure design company in the world and has designed over 400 IFR procedures world wide. While ANI is one of the primary training institutions in instrument flight procedure design and provides such training all over the World. This combination of training and practical expertise will result in a course that will give the attendees a unique possibility to assimilate this complex subject.

Details of the  ASAP / ANI Advanced Pans-Ops course contents are given below.

Be advised that all places (14) on last year’s basic instrument procedure design course were taken within the first month after notification and we had to turn people away. So get in early for this one.

You can at the moment provisionally reserve a place on the course for 2010 without cost or obligation. As confirmed places on the course fill up you will be notified and at that stage a confirmed booking with a deposit should be made. If not your reservation for the course will be released to others.

The course had a duration of three weeks.

Advanced Course contents

Week one and two

PBN concept
Revision of functionality principles of RNAV sensors
PBN RNAV design criteria as per AMDT 2 to PANS-OPS
APV Baro-VNAV
APV SBAS
RNP AR (doc. 9905)
Practical exercises

Week three

Helicopter RNAV procedures
Point in Space (PinS) approaches

Accommodation and Location

The course was held at the ASAP training rooms in the town of Pezinok which is just North of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.

The students attending the course can fly into either Vienna or Bratislava airports. Vienna airport has a shuttle bus service (approximately every hour) that goes between Vienna and Bratislava main bus terminal, duration 1 ½ hours. Pezinok is 23 km from the centre of Bratislava and a short taxi ride of about 25 mins.

There are various hotels in Pezinok that are within walking distance of the ASAP training facility.

Please be informed that a Slovakian visa may be required for attendees from outside of Europe. ASAP will be happy to provide an invitation letter in Slovak and English to facilitate the visa application process.

Course cost

The cost of the full course is € 4,700 Euro. If only the first two weeks (PBN, RNAV etc.) of the course is attended the cost is € 3,200 Euro. If only the last week of the course dealing with helicopter operations is attended the cost is € 1,800 Euro.

A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the course cost is required prior to confirmation of a position on the course. The remainder of the course fee is to be paid prior to commencement of the course.
