Submission:
1) I agree mostly but concerning the secondary area of the outside turn, DOC 8168 31.4.1.3 b) says: ". and a constant secondary area is applied during the turn". Could one make the outer edge of the secondary also curved i.e. follow the same shape as outer edge of primary area and use the width of the secondary at the nominal turning point throughout the turn?
b) The most conservative way to calculate d1 and the wind spiral is high speed and low bank angle (most conservative for d2 is lower speed and high bank angle). The aircraft will hardly use a 25 degree bank angle for such small turns?
