RNAV and conventional departures - 2

10.10.2007

Submission:

Again a question on the interpretation of ICAO Annex 14 Para 4.1.29 ("In the case of a take-off flight path involving a turn, the take-off climb surface shall be a complex surface containing the horizontal nomals to its centre line, and the slope of the centre line shall be the same as that for a straight take-off flight path.”) Is there an airport for which such complex surface is actually defined? Does the "take-off flight path involving a turn" simply refer to turning SIDs? However, SIDs change more often than obstacle surfaces (at least at at Schiphol). Or is this paragraph only valid if aeroplanes need to turn after take-off because of obstacles in the extension of the runway ?
