Radar Minimum Sector Altitude chart

15.06.2011

Submission:

We have a Terminal Approach Radar comprised of a primary and a secondary mono-pulse radars. The primary radar will be out of service for some time.

The question is:

Is the Radar Minimum Sector Altitude chart still valid?

I have checked Chapter 6, SRE in Doc 8168 and did not find anything defining the type of surveillance radar used. I have also checked Doc 4444 and did not find any restriction to the use of a secondary radar for tactical vectoring.

From what I have read it does not depend on the type of radar, just the distance from the radar installation. So I would say that your Radar Minimum Sector Altitude chart is still valid.
