We plan to replace a VOR/DME (new navigational aid, same position), which is used for the majority of arrivals, some departures, missed approach and Holding at the Airport. Procedures related to the VOR/DME will be suspended for about two months. Is it possible, to use suspended STARs and SIDs for Flight Planning purposes only? There is sufficient radar coverage and a radar service is normally used in the TMA. We have information, that suspended procedures are still kept in data base and FMS, and it can be used for Flight Planning. If that is the case, we only plan to publish new Holding and possibly new missed approach procedure, even though the radar missed approach clearance is regularly used. Does anyone have similar experiences? Is it necessary to redesign all STARS and SIDS for only two months?
