M/A climb

28.05.2007

Submission:

How does the approach climb requirement of 2,1% for a two engine aircraft tie in with a missed approach climb gradient of 2,5%. Certainly if I go around at 200' with a standard missed approach I am expected to make the 2,5% and not the 2,1%.

Answer or Commentary:

I am not too sure where the 2.1% comes from. From an IFR procedure design point of view the standard is a minimum missed approach climb gradient of 2.5%. If a gradient less than that is flown there is a possibility of hitting obstacles.)
