When the original tables of OAS constants were developed, the intention was that they should not be extrapolated. This is because they come from a fitted polynomial and extrapolation outside the limits is a mathematical no-no. Therefore it was clearly stated that for LOC-THR distances outside the limits, the limit values should be used. This is safe in all cases and is the best course to follow. If a different solution is used, be prepared to justify it and be sure to record the justification for any future safety audit.Robert Woodhouse - Canada
