Initial RNAV turn 2

11.11.2009

Submission:

The solution is simple: The turn protection must be constructed as in the book. The fact that the overshoot only reconnects in the missed approach is known but no problem. The overshoot area is assessed with the criteria of the segment you are COMING FROM, not the segment abeam. Rationale: Descent can only be started when the waypoint is sequenced and that does not happen in the overshoot case. Therefore you just want to assure that the aircraft does not hit anything at the previous MOCA. Descentd to Intermediate and Final will only be initiated when the aircraft sequences the respective waypoints and in case of final when the CDI is within half scale deflection.
