I was on the ICAO web site recently and checked the ILS obstacle assessment surfaces (OAS) CD-ROM which will replace the hard copy OAS constants in the green pages of Pans-Ops. It seems that this CD-ROM will cost $2900 US Dollars with $395 USD per year for software maintenance. That means that I should pay $2900 USD for the privilege of destroying the green OAS constants pages in Pans-Ops. Personally I am going to keep both my green OAS pages and the $2900 USD. Like a lot of procedure designers I have made an Excel spread sheet to calculate the height of the OAS surfaces which accepts manually entered constants, so I will be keeping the $395 USD as well.

As for the included ILS Collision Risk Model (CRM) it seems that it has just got a new face (i.e. front end) while the actual calculation parameters have not changed. All of us procedure designers have access to the original CRM in one way or another. So as the changes to the CRM are merely cosmetic, at this stage the $2900 USD stays firmly in my pocket.

My advice to al procedure designers out there is "Keep your green pages!"
