Fix Tolerances - 2

25.10.2004

Submission:

I have to say, first of all, that the question is correctly raised. Second I agree with the ASAP point that there is some kind of drawing tolerance in the areas as designed ( in accordance with 8168 graphical specifications ) this in my point of view is not correct, because the inclusion of the red areas is not in accordance with 8168 (written) rationale for designing segment areas.

Thirdly, I believe that in the two smaller drawings, the first red area ( in accordance with the flight trajectory ), should not be drawn in red since it is part of the Radial or QDR area that is providing track guidance for the flight ( in the first red area the aircraft has not yet reached the limiting distance ( and associated tolerance )). I would like to get my hands on OCP reports and Wp's because there one may find, at least, a partial explanation of why 8168 still carries this graphical criteria.
