The original source code is available in document 9387-AN/817 and the theory behind it all is found in doc 9274-AN/904. If everyone used the same code, all would be fine, there is just one critical part left out; the sort algorithm. The documentation states that it is the responsibility of the user to sort the obstacles before the CRM is run and as found by several organizations, different sorts, may result in different results. The CRM WG is looking into this problem at the moment. Having said this, the old CRM program was really not designed for the requirements of today when it comes to the number and complexity of the obstacles. There is definitely need for modernisation of the theory, algorithms and flight data used. Again this is something the CRM WG is addressing.
