Coding legs

22.06.2012

Submission:

TF flyover followed by a DF leg PANS OPS states on page III-2-5-APP-2 ‘if a procedure requires a DF after a flyover then the previous leg shall be coded CF or DF’ Does anybody know why PANS OPS doesn't allow TF flyover DF when it is an acceptable sequence in ARINC attachment 5, para 1.3?

Answer or Commentary:

The PANS-OPS coding chapter refers to ARINC 424-15, because there are still a lot of boxes that do not comply with the newer standard fly around. Hence the discrepancy between the statements in PANS-OPS and the current ARINC 424.
