CAT III DH determination

08.10.2010

Submission:

The CAT III DH value is based on the minimum altitude required without touching down, in order to prevent a spoiler deployment. Normally 20 ft DH is sufficient (fail operational systems) and therefore used. There was an attempt at the JAA/FAA Harmonisation project to provide for Height Loss values in the AFM for this purpose, but the question of the probability value to be used stopped this process. In case of a No DH operation there is no DH and the ILS classification must be III/E/4.
