Baro VNAV 2

We are trying to find agreement within the IFPP at this moment. Here is the problem. In case of a m/a PRIMARY penetration we calculate equivalent height and add the MOC APP to that. This produces the same result as adding the MOC M/A to the penetrating obstacle and then reducing to the SOC datum (ATT+d+X) after VPA, where you receive the OCH directly. Now if the obstacle penetrates in the side surface, the equivalent height method doesn't work anymore, as we are allowed a reduced MOC. Logically the reduced MOC should be the same margin as if the obstacle just does NOT penetrate the OAS. With the method described above, one can apply a reduce m/a margin and project back to the SOC datum, where the OCH is directly taken from. Don't worry guys, the people attending my advanced course in June will learn how it works. The only problem is, that in Paris the French will give a presentation about Baro-VNAV and they seem a have a different interpretation as the rest. Most IFPP participants agree with my logic.Beat Zimmermann, Air Navigation Institute, Switzerland
